Lunchtime Concert

Tuesday 13th May 12.30pm – Lin Xu-Zhang

London-based Australian pianist Lin Xu-Zhang is recognised for his remarkable tonal palette, expressive depth, and bold and individual artistic voice. Equally in demand as a soloist and collaborator, he has earned acclaim for his adventurous interpretations across a wide-ranging repertoire—from the Renaissance to contemporary works, including over a dozen concerti.
Recent highlights include performing Schoenberg’s rarely heard Piano Concerto and selections from György Kurtág’s Játékok at the Royal Academy of Music’s Summer Piano Festival. A passionate advocate for new music, Lin has premiered works by composers such as Gerard Brophy, Alex Pozniak, Ian Munns, and Katia Beaugeais. He is set to give over two dozen solo recitals across Europe and Australia this season.
Lin records for the Cranbrook Recording Studio label and is currently completing his undergraduate studies with Joanna MacGregor CBE at the Royal Academy of Music, where he also studies with Steven Osborne OBE. He is the recipient of the highest undergraduate concerto mark among pianists of his year, as well as the Academy’s 2024 Mozart Piano Concerto Prize and the University of Sydney’s Sydney Scholars’ Award. His early training was guided by Laurent Boullet, Clemens Leske Jr., and Lina Petkova.
